Cathy's Recipe
Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 lb pork sausage
- 1 lb velveeta cheese
- garlic powder to taste
- 3 shakes tabasco sauce
- 2 shakes oregano spice
- 1 large loaf party rye
Directions:
- Cook meats in a large skillet. Crumble and drain.
- Cut the velvetta into large cubes and place them on top of the meat in the same pan.
- Cover and allow the cheese to melt. When the cheese is melted, stir well.
- Add garlic, Tabasco, and oregano and stir again.
- Remove from the heat and spoon 1 tablespoon of the mixture onto each slice of rye bread.
- Bake for 15 minutes at 350°F on a baking sheet.
- If you want to freeze these ahead of time, place rye bread with meat in a single layer, cover with foil or plastic wrap, and store in the freezer.
- Cook a little longer if starting from a frozen state.
