Cathy's Recipe
I've been preparing this recipe for more than 40 years, and people often ask me to bring it to family gatherings because it's so delicious. Old-fashioned German mac and cheese, modified
Ingredients:
- 1 pound cooked and drained macaroni
- 1 large regular cheez wiz
- 2-3 tablespoons of butter
- 2-3 tablespoons of flour
- 2 cups milk or half and half
Directions:
- Cooking Time: 1 hour
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and stir in the flour until well combined; the mixture will be quite thick.
- Add milk or 1/2 and 1/2 and stir until it thickens. This will take about 4-5 minutes. Make sure you stir, or the mixture will burn at the bottom of the pan.
- When done, pour the macaroni into a casserole dish and add the white sauce. Stir well.
- Take the Cheez Wiz and melt it in another sauce pan.
- When melted pour over the macaroni and white sauce
- Bake in a 350-degree oven for about an hour.
