Old English Coffee Cake

Dorothy's Recipe




Ingredients:

  • 3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 3/4 cups reg sugar
  • 3 teaspoons baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 2 small cans evaporated milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 2 sticks butter softened
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts


Directions:

  • Preheat the oven to 325°F. Grease and flour an angel food pan, a deep springform pan, or a bundt pan. You also need two bowls, one large and one small.
  • Mix flour and sugar in a large bowl; stir in softened butter.
  • Take a 1/2 cup of the above mixture and put it into the smaller bowl. Add cinnamon and nuts, then set aside. This is why you need two bowls.
  • Mix the remaining ingredients in the large bowl mentioned above. Mix Well
  • Fill the bottom of the bundt pan with 1/2 of the nut mixture from the small bowl.
  • Half of the cake batter should be placed on top of the nut mixture.
  • Sprinkle rest of nuts over cake batter
  • Add the rest of the cake batter to the bundt pan.
  • Bake at 325 for an hour and 15 min
  • Let cool on rack for 30 minutes
